Like cherry blossoms, fuji (wisteria) is a time-honored theme of Japanese painting.
Even today there are some places famous for their great wisterias. The “Great Miracle Wisteria” in Ashikaga Flower Park is incredibly beautiful, almost out of this world at its peak. It is compared to ‘The Tree of Souls’ in the hit movie “Avatar”.
Wisteria flowers, as well as cherry blossoms, bloom in clusters. Numerous small flowers bloom under crowded circumstances, which seems to have something in common with the Japanese who rather value organizational capability than individual ability.
